Justin’s practice is primarily preparing and filing utility and design patent applications. He also handles related areas of work, including non-infringement opinions, invalidity opinions, and third-party preissuance submissions.
Justin is comfortable preparing applications in a wide variety of subject matter areas, including medical devices, mechanical devices, electrical and electronic devices, and computer-based and physical methods.
Justin is board-certified in intellectual property law by the Florida Bar. When this bio was drafted in 2025, he was the only board-certified intellectual property attorney in St Petersburg.
He works with a hand-selected network of foreign associates to file patent applications in foreign countries.
Prior to becoming a patent attorney, Justin was a practicing mechanical engineer. He designed firewater deluge systems for a liquified natural gas storage facility, reviewed cryogenic butterfly valve testing, and worked as a field engineer in process piping and commissioning. It was a wonderful experience, but he appreciates that his job no longer includes taking midnight moisture readings from a nitrogen purge valve 220 feet in the air.
He now applies his piping skills to home improvements, with plans to build skin-on-frame boats and fine furniture. He was fortunate enough to meet his wife Trista, whom he married in 2014.
